This is a question that many players have asked themselves since the announcement of the action RPG game Dragon Ball Z Kakarot. If we know that Goku will be the main character that players will control throughout the experience, will it at least be possible to play with other protagonists from the Dragon Ball universe? We finally have the answer!
This is indeed the case, Goku will not be the only playable character in Dragon Ball Z Kakarot since as the game progresses, players will be able to take control of Vegeta, Piccolo or Gohan. In the case of Vegeta and Piccolo, they will be playable when players move to the planet Namek. While Gohan will be playable and will have his unique piece of history when he trains with Piccolo just before Nappa and Vegeta arrive on earth.
Others will obviously be involved, but will not be directly controllable. We are talking about Chiaotzu, Tienshinan, Krillin or even Yamcha who will appear as support characters during the game’s battles. Via a button / key, it will be possible to call a support character as a reinforcement, Yamcha for example will be able to use the « provocation », which will make it possible to catch the attention of an opponent and thus give the player time to cover in case of bad position.
When you think about it, it makes sense that other characters are playable in Dragon Ball Z Kakarot. In the manga / anime, Goku is often out of the race. It remains to be seen whether the game will go further than Frieza arc and whether it will cover the entire Dragon Ball Z series up to Buu.
Dragon Ball Z Kakarot is developed by CyberConnect2 teams (known in particular for the Naruto Ninja Storm serie) and will be released on the market in physical version and on download platforms on PC, PS4 and Xbox One at the beginning of 2020 year.
