Call of Duty license players have always been familiar with sharing their gaming experience with a friend or family on the sofa in local cooperation / split screen. With Call of Duty Black Ops 4, Treyarch’s teams have respected this tradition by allowing players to share a game session on a split screen, whether in zombie or multiplayer mode, but also in the brand new Blackout mode, which is the Battle Royale vision with a Call of Duty touch.
Yes ! you have read well, unlike the competition and especially Fortnite to name but a few, in the Blackout mode of Call of Duty Black Ops 4 it is quite possible to play in split screen (multi local) on the same screen.
If you are on PS4 or Xbox One, you will need to make sure that the two accounts you use to play (your account and the guest’s account) have enabled the console as the main one.
→ On PS4, go to the settings and account management to enable PS4 as the main console.
→ On Xbox One, press the « guide » button, open the settings and make sure you activate the « my Xbox home » option.
Then, when both accounts are connected to the console, simply start the game Call of Duty Black Ops 4 and press the « X » (PS4) or « A » (Xbox One) button to add the second player to the game session. You will see the second profile appear at the top right of the screen.Â
All you have to do now is choose your game mode and enjoy Blackout, Zombie and Multiplayer modes with a friend or family in local multiplayer.
✩ Information : About the black bars that appear on the split screen (local), this is not a bug, but a desire of Treyarch who prefers to display black bars to respect the ratio depriving players of a large part of the screen. Unless there is a possible patch in the near future (unlikely) you will have to be violent and agree to play with black bars around the screen even if you don’t see much…
Note that in the game’s graphic options it is possible to switch the display of the split screen vertically, you gain a little in readability compared to the horizontal mode.
